It failed utterly and in doing so it killed over 100,000,000 men, women, and children, not to mention the near 30,000,000 of its subjects that died in its often aggressive wars and the rebellions it provoked."

The Big O

I believe I just watched one of America's most influential personalities of pop culture grab the mantle of optimism, the one claimed by winners of most presidential elections, and place it squarely in the hands of Barack Obama. It is the same mantle claimed by Ronald Reagan when he spoke of the "shining city on the hill."
